The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, was on September 28, 2025, received and honoured with a special award by members of Abatete Development Organisation (ADO) at a grand reception and merit award ceremony at San Antonio Blu Hotels.
The event attracted people from different walks of life, including prominent Abatete indigenes and top government officials.
Speaking after receiving the award, Commissioner Mefor said that the award, coming from his own people, was very special to him, as a prophet is not recognised by his people.
He maintained that the award was a call to do greater services to the people of Abatete and the Solution Government, who gave him the privilege to serve as the Commissioner for Information.
“It’s a rare honour and privilege to be speaking for the Anambra State Government as of today. It’s been quite exciting. I think we are discharging the responsibility creditably well, and we shall continue to do so until the intentions of Mr Governor are well met.
“I want to assure you that the confidence you have reposed in me is not misplaced. I shall continue to do my best as your ambassador in the Solution Government,” he said.
He commended the self-help efforts of Abatete indigenes, especially in the area of road construction, and assured them that Governor Soludo appreciates and recognises their efforts and would soon do something in appreciation for Abatete, even as he called on them not to relent in supporting the Governor, especially in the November 8 election.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Okey Muo-Aroh, extolled the efforts of the awardees in the development of Abatete and the society at large.
He commended the Abatete Development Organisation for appreciating and honouring their illustrious sons, urging the awardees to support the organisation in building their proposed hall in Awka.
In their separate remarks, the ADO President, Sir Kelvin Elomba, and former President General of the organisation, Sir Moses Chukwuka, lauded Abatete indigenes for their unity of purpose, which has contributed to the growth and development of Abatete, and restated the town’s support for the Solution Government.
Other awardees are the traditional ruler of Abatete, Igwe Emeka Efobi; Chief Clement Analikwu; Chief Edwin Enyomba; Chief Dr Evans Metuh; Hon. Stanley Nkwoka; High Chief E.C. Obinwugo; Chief Dr Tochukwu Metuh; Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi; Sir Moses Chukwuka; Chief Pius Ezeigwe; and Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka.
