ANSFA Chairman, Iloenyosi Visits Awka Custodial Centre, Marks Birthday With Inmates

Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), celebrated his birthday in a unique way by visiting the Awka Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The ANSFA Chairman was accompanied by prominent football stakeholders from Anambra State and beyond. During the visit, Chief Iloenyosi and his entourage brought joy to the inmates by distributing snacks, drinks, and other essential items.

In a special gesture, the ANSFA Chairman also sponsored a mini-soccer competition at the Correctional Centre, which coincidentally held its grand finale on the same day. The inmates were awarded cash prizes, adding to the excitement of the occasion.

In his remarks during the visit, Chief Iloenyosi stated that the visit to the Awka Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service was to celebrate one of the best moments of his life with the inmates by giving them a sense of belonging as humans despite their plight as well as to show love and care that inspite of their predicament that there are people in the society who truly values their social well-being.

The Anambra FA Boss disclosed that he will donate a trophy and institute prizes in December to support the already existing football competition being played among the inmates of the 13 cells of the Correctional Service Centre as part of promoting football growth and strengthening the harmonious relationship among the inmates. He charged the inmates to be of good behaviour always even in their state of confinement.

Responding the Deputy Controller of Nigerian Correctional Service, Awka Custodial Centre, Lawrence Amaechi extolled Chief Iloenyosi for his contributions to the growth of sports in the state through football.

He prayed God to continue to grant the Anambra FA Chairman the enablement to do more exploits through football.

The visit featured words of commendations, praise worship songs and prayers by the inmates for the Anambra FA Boss.
