Prof Oparah Emerges President Of Association Of Marketing Academic Professionals

Professor Promise Chika Oparah, PhD, has been appointed as the President of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals (AMAP).

The organisation is the highest body of scholars and intellectuals in marketing education in Nigeria.

Prof. Oparah is a Professor of Strategic Marketing at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Deputy Director 1 of UNIZIK Centre for Capital Market Studies and Coordinator of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He is a fellow of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals of Nigeria, among other professional affiliations. He has also served as the Chairman 2nd AGM and Maiden Conference Planning and Constitution Review Committees of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals.

Prof Oparah has held multiple administrative posts within Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, such as Head of Department of Marketing and Deputy Director 1 of UNIZIK Business School.

He is also one of the few Nigerians quoted in AFRICA WHO’S WHO United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with special bias for Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Prof. Oparah as the President of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals is expected to strengthen the role of AMAP as the authoritative scholarly voice for marketing education in Nigeria with a clear mandate to review, propose and advocate for robust Marketing Curricular in universities, colleges of education and polytechnics.

The members of the association congratulated Prof Oparah on his becoming the President and indicated that his appointment is a testament to his expertise and dedication to the field of marketing and also declared their readiness to work with him to advance the professionalization of marketing as a distinct scholarly field.

Prof Promise Chika Oparah was unanimously elected at the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Association of Marketing Academic Professionals, which took place on Wednesday, 8 October, 2025, at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.
