Abia Warriors Football Club marked the beginning of the 2025/2026 season with a church service at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church Nigeria in Umuahia.
The team’s chairman, board members, management, technical crew, players, staff, and supporters’ club attended the service to express gratitude to God and dedicate the new season to Him.
This spiritual kickoff reflects the club’s commitment to faith and preparation for the upcoming season.
According to the club’s media release, the event is a ritual for the Warriors prior to the commencement of every football season.
The colourful ceremony featured songs of praises to God, worship, sermon and prayers.
During the church service, the Chairman of Umu Chineke, Coach John Obuh, on behalf of the club, expressed gratitude to God for the progress made so far, even as he solicited prayers and support from the congregation.
The Minister In-charge of the church, Reverend Chinedu Okoroafor commended Coach Obuh for leading the club to seek the face of God as the new football season beckons, and charged the congregation to hold the club in prayers.
The clergy thereafter prayed for the club and dedicated their affairs to God.
