The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged its full support for the burial of legendary football icon Christian Chukwu, according to Anambra State Football Association Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi.

Coach Christian Chukwu, affectionately known as “Chairman,” passed away on April 12, 2025, at 74, leaving behind a legacy as a player and coach for the Super Eagles

Alh. Gusau while paying tribute to Chukwu, described him as a man who served Nigeria with unwavering dedication. He informed that the NFF has been in touch with Chukwu’s family on plans towards giving him a befitting honour and respect during his funeral.

Alh. Gusau also commended the ANSFA Boss for his commitment, dedication, philanthropic gesture as well as show of love and empathy he has demonstrated thus far as the Chairman of the ANSFA while urging him to continue his good deeds using the instrumentality of the beautiful game of football.

The funeral rites of the late legendary and iconic football personality, Christian Chukwu will hold from Friday, 15th to Sunday, 17th August, 2025 when he will be laid to rest in his country home.

The former senior nation team captain and ex-coach died on 12th April, 2025 at the age 74.
