Enyimba FC has been crowned the champion of the 7th edition of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason Tournament, thanks to a thrilling 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers.

The match played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu was a closely contested encounter between two NPFL powerhouses.

The first half ended in a goalless stalemate, with both teams creating opportunities but unable to find the back of the net.

The intensity picked up in the second half, with both teams pressing hard for a breakthrough.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 62nd minute when Pere Anderson scored the decisive goal for Enyimba FC.

Despite Rangers’ best efforts to equalize, particularly in the 75th minute, Enyimba’s defense held strong to maintain their slender lead.

The host orchestrated an excellent exchange of passes in the 80th minute, led by skipper Chidiebere Nwobodo, but Enyimba’s Mohammed Husseini cleared the danger, ensuring his team’s victory.

Enyimba captain, Joseph Atule beamed with pride, stated that the triumph marks a fantastic start to the season for him and his teammates.

He said the win not only showcases the team’s determination but also highlights their growth and teamwork.

This championship win undoubtedly boosts Enyimba FC’s confidence as they move forward in the upcoming seasons.
