In a thrilling encounter at the ongoing 7th Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico Select preseason tournament, KMK Foundation Academy’s young goalkeeper, Kelvin Johnny stole the show, denying Enyimba International FC a third straight win.
The 1-1 draw at the Aba centre was a testament to the goalkeeper’s exceptional skills, particularly in the penalty box.
The teenage goalkeeper’s heroics in the 88th minute, when he saved a penalty kick from Abraham Sunday, was a turning point in the match. This impressive save not only earned him accolades but also ensured that KMK Foundation Academy earned a crucial point.
KMK took the lead in the 42nd minute through David Olatunji following a great split pass from Kehide. However, Enyimba equalized in the 78th minute through substitute Joseph Atule.
Despite Enyimba’s fire up performance after multiple changes that injected fresh energy into their attack, KMK’s goalkeeper remained resolute, making crucial saves to secure a point for his team.
The young goalkeeper’s performance has undoubtedly caught the attention of football enthusiasts, and it won’t be surprising if he receives more opportunities to showcase his talent in the future. In the match Day five slated for tomorrow Excellent FC who recorded a brilliant draw against Heartland FC will meet Inter Aba FC by 2pm, NPFL new entrants Kun Khalifat will play against Enyimba FC by 4pm and KMK FC will play the first game of the day against Heartland Heartland FC by 10am.
