The Technical Manager of Heartland FC, Emmanuel Amunike, has highlighted the importance of the ongoing 7th Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason Tournament as a platform for assessing and developing the team’s new players.
Amunike revealed that the team’s 3-0 win over Inter Aba FC in their opening match was a positive start, but cautioned against reading too much into a single game.
He emphasized the need for patience and understanding that adaptation is a gradual process. “Nobody was born one day and became perfect,” Amunike said, underscoring the importance of learning from mistakes.
The Technical Manager stressed that the tournament provides a valuable opportunity for the team to gel and develop a cohesive playing style. By testing new signings and fine-tuning their tactics, Heartland FC aims to build a strong foundation for the season ahead. Amunike noted that the team’s focus is on progress, not just results.
Amunike emphasized that the team’s primary objective in the tournament is to evaluate the new signings and see how they fit into the team’s plans. “We want to use it to see some of the new players that we have in the team, that is the main objective,” he said, highlighting the importance of finding the right balance and chemistry within the squad.
The Technical Manager believes that the tournament offers a chance for the players to learn and grow, both individually and collectively. By embracing the challenges and opportunities presented by the tournament, Heartland FC is committed to continuous improvement and development.
