The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed strong optimism about the Super Falcons’ chances of winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
According to Gusau, the team’s renewed focus and unity under the theme “Mission X” has set them on course for continental glory.
Gusau explained that the inspiration behind the “Mission X” slogan is to motivate the team towards their 10th WAFCON title.
He noted that the term is a campaign aimed at pushing the team to achieve greatness, especially after a disappointing outing in the last edition.
The Super Falcons have enjoyed a flawless run in the 2024 WAFCON, winning all four matches without conceding a single goal – a feat not achieved by the team since 1998.
The NFF President proudly highlighted this achievement, expressing confidence that the team will celebrate winning the trophy on July 26.
With the semi-final showdown approaching, Gusau emphasized that the focus is not on potential opponents but on executing the team’s vision. He declared that “Mission X is achievable,” and the team is determined to make it to the final day.
The NFF president’s remarks have further energized Nigerian fans, many of whom see the campaign as a moment of redemption and legacy for the country’s most decorated national team.
As anticipation builds for the final on July 26, all eyes will be on the Super Falcons to complete what they have boldly called “Mission X” – reclaiming their crown and lifting a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
