The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old notorious leader of a proscribed armed separatist group named Gospel Nneto, alias “OZ.”
The suspect was arrested by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, who also rescued three kidnap victims in separate operations and recovered arms and incriminating items.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect is a confirmed member of the proscribed separatist group and has confessed to being a photographer for the group.
The police also recovered a pump-action gun and a dagger from the suspect.
In related operations, the police rescued two female kidnap victims in a forested area between Oraukwu and Nimo communities and neutralized two armed suspects in a gun duel in Nteje.
The police are currently conducting discreet investigations to uncover the suspect’s criminal network and track down other fleeing members of the criminal syndicates.
The Anambra State Police Command says it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors to the state.
