The Chairman of Delta State Teqball Association, Mr. Marvel Dick has stated that the association under his watch and the national body is making effort towards having the game as a medal awarding sports at the upcoming National Sports Festival (NSF).

The Delta State Teqball boss made the remarks during an interview with sports writers on Thursday, July 11, 2025 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State at the ongoing NNL Super 8 competition.

Mr. Dick disclosed that the game has featured as demonstration sports in the past two national sports festivals in Asaba, Delta State and Abeokuta, Ogun State during the 21st and 22nd editions respectively and plans are underway to ensure the game features at the upcoming NSF in Enugu as a medal awarding sports.

The Teqball boss also informed that since he introduced the game back in 2020, seven Teqball clubs were developed to boost the games’ relevance, create awareness and encourage players to fully be integrated into it which will serve as a platform to stardom.

Dick said: “The game of Teqball is gaining relevance not just in Delta State but in the nation at large. Teqball featured at the 21st and 22nd National Sports Festival hosted by Delta State and Ogun State respectively and we are making efforts to ensure the game features as a medal awarding sports at the next NSF in Enugu.

“I brought the game here in 2020 and made progress as we developed seven teqball clubs. We have also taken the game to secondary schools so that we can develop the game further at the schools and grassroots for the future of the game,” The teqball boss said.

Dick highlighted some of the achievements in the game such as sponsoring Nigeria’s number one player to an international teqball competition where he emerged as the Most Valuable Player as well as hosting 18 states of the federation in the last national programme hosted by Delta State.

The vibrant and youthful sports administrator assured that the game has come to stay and he will continue to give his support towards its growth and development in the state and beyond.
