The ongoing NNL Super 8 playoff at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba witnessed a disturbing display of unruly behavior from Yobe Desert Stars supporters.

Despite their team’s dismal 4-0 loss to Wikki Tourists, the Yobe fans’ misconduct has put their club in jeopardy.

The trouble began when Yobe supporters occupied the media section, prompting stadium managers to relocate them to the designated supporters’ area.

As the match progressed and Yobe conceded three goals, the fans became violent, destroying stadium seats and hurling them onto the pitch. The situation was brought under control by the Nigerian National Defense Corps and NNL Chairman, Mr. George Aluo.

The fans’ behavior escalated further after the final whistle, as they invaded the pitch and attempted to physically attack some Yobe Stars players. Security personnel intervened, escorting the players to safety.

This incident may have severe consequences for Yobe Desert Stars, with potential sanctions looming. The team’s promotion hopes were already dashed, but the supporters’ actions could lead to further repercussions.

In contrast, Wikki Tourists celebrated their 4-0 win, which secured their promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League
