According to the Anambra Police Command, armed gunmen attacked the area, sparking a fierce gun duel between the hoodlums and the Joint Security Team.

The police statement revealed that the armed criminals indiscriminately shot under the Ekwulobia flyover, resulting in the deaths of two unsuspecting members of the public.

A brown Toyota Sienna vehicle, allegedly belonging to the Anambra State Vigilante Group, was also burned during the attack.

However, the security forces responded swiftly, engaging the hoodlums in a gun battle. One armed criminal was demobilized, and several weapons and vehicles were recovered, including

One AK-47 rifle, One automatic pump action gun and four vehicles (Toyota Camry, Mercedes Benz, Lexus 330, and Toyota Highlander)

The police command confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and deposited in the morgue.

In a related incident, the Oko Divisional Police Headquarters was attacked, but the officers on duty repelled the assault without recording any casualties.

The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents that adequate security measures are in place to ensure their safety.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has urged residents to remain calm as efforts to apprehend the perpetrators continue. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
