The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Muanaenye Chekwube Victor, for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of his friend and collecting a ransom in dollars equivalent to N5.3 million.

According to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, Victor and his gang members abducted their friend, but not before pretending to be victims of kidnapping to avoid suspicion.

The plot was exposed after police operatives attached to Uli Divisional Headquarters launched an investigation.

During interrogation, Victor confessed to planning the kidnapping and collecting the ransom.

He is cooperating with the police, providing vital information to apprehend his accomplices.

The suspect will face prosecution upon completion of the investigation.

The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to improving safety and security in the state.

The arrest highlights the command’s determination to tackle crime and bring perpetrators to justice.
