The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, on Wednesday, 25th June 2025 distributed relief materials to students living in the University Hostels domiciled in the Awka campus of the institution.
Prof. Arinze-Umobi disclosed that the items which were sanitary pads to female students and tissue papers to their male counterparts was part of her administration’s commitment towards the welfare of the students.
The acting Vice-Chancellor highlighted some of her key promises to the students which has been fulfilled ranging from the installation of solar systems for improved electrification, improved Wi-Fi access, enhanced water reticulation and other developmental projects across the hostels.
The Professor of Laws informed that her administration runs an open door policy with students of the institution as her number one priority. Prof. Arinze-Umobi charged the students to focus on their academics, engage in sporting activities as well as shun vices such as cultism and any form of examination malpractice.
During the interactive session with the students, the Acting VC listened to their concerns and suggestions, taking notes of their needs and demands while also assuring them of her continued efforts in improving their welfare and living conditions on campus.
Also present during the visit were the University’s Acting Registrar, Mr Victor Modebelu; the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Makodi Biereenu-Nnabugwu; the Chief Safety Officer, Chief Ken Chukwurah and other principal officers of the University.
