The acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umeobi  has promised that Inter University Sports participation will be enhanced under her watch

She made the promise during a recent interview session with Journalists at her office.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi disclosed that in keeping with her promise, she gave approval on her first day in office on May 19th, 2025, for the participation of the University at the Nigeria University Staff Sports Games (NUSSA) hosted by the Bayero University of Kano (BUK) where UNIZIK won five gold medals at the games and was the only institution from the South East zone who featured at the games.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi emphasized that sports participation is essential for bonding, conviviality and enhancing work output by staff members. The Professor of Laws congratulated the medal winners at the games for making the institution proud despite the obvious challenge of limited time for competition training and preparations.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi who holds the Shotput and Discus record at the NUGA games during her University days assured that the students of the institution will also be part of the upcoming 26th edition of the NUGA games to be hosted by the University of Jos (UNIJOS) holding from the 6th to 16th November, 2025.
