…Says Discipline and Humility Key To Success
Enyimba FC Chairman and Nigerian football legend, Ambassador Kanu ‘Papilo’ Nwankwo, shared valuable insights with young players from Excellent FC of Agbo.
He did that during a moment with the team while on training tour of the Enyimba International Stadium.
Kanu emphasized the importance of discipline and humility in achieving lasting success, telling the players, “It’s not just about what you do with the ball, it’s about how you carry yourself—on and off the pitch.”
He stressed that talent alone is not enough and must be guided by character, obedience to coaches, and a focus on long-term goals.
Kanu’s message resonated with the players, and his words were seen as a reaffirmation of Enyimba FC’s strategic direction under his leadership.
He highlighted the importance of grassroots development, stating, “The future of Nigerian football lies in the grassroots. If we don’t build them right, we are building nothing.”
Since becoming Chairman, Kanu has implemented reforms to Enyimba’s youth system, including structured development pathways and talent identification programs.
The visit by Excellent FC demonstrated Kanu’s commitment to bridging the gap between grassroots passion and professional pathways.
His emphasis on discipline, humility, and youth development could be a game-changer for Nigerian football. As one young player noted, Kanu’s presence and words made them feel seen, valued, and capable. With Kanu at the helm, Enyimba FC is building not just a team, but a legacy.
