…A Platform for Young Football Stars To Shine
The second edition of the Nwankwo Kanu U-19 Football Tournament is set to electrify the city of Aba, Abia State, as six youth teams gather at the iconic Enyimba International Stadium on June 13.
The tournament, proudly sponsored by Enyimba FC’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Emmanuel Ekwueme, aims to discover, nurture, and showcase Nigeria’s next generation of football stars.
According to Ekwueme, the tournament is not just about football; it’s about creating opportunities, redirecting youthful energy into meaningful pursuits, and building bridges to a brighter future.
The competition will feature two centers, Aba and Owerri, with the winners from each center set to meet in a grand finale at the Enyimba International Stadium.
The tournament serves a critical social purpose, providing a platform for positive youth engagement and helping to reduce the allure of social vices that often affect young people.
By offering structured competition, mentorship, and potential career pathways, the tournament is transforming vulnerable communities through football.
Expected in attendance are ex-internationals, football stakeholders, and Ambassador Nwankwo Kanu, the tournament’s torchbearer and Enyimba FC Chairman.
The opening day will feature three matches, with Ambassador Kanu serving as Special Guest of Honour.
