The Anambra State Football Association extends warm congratulations to Comrade Phillip Shaibu on his appointment as Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Comrade Shaibu takes over from Professor Olawale Moronkola with immediate effect.

The Chairman, Anambra state Football Association, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi,  noted that Comrade Shaibu’s passion for sports, coupled with his resilience and dedication during his tenure as Deputy Governor of Edo State, demonstrates his capacity to deliver.

“Shaibu is a good friend, an active professional football player who just retired a few seasons ago. We wish him well and expect positive improvements in the NIS.”

The National Institute for Sports, established in 1974, is tasked with producing top-notch coaches, sports scientists, and sports managers.

The institute conducts research to improve Nigeria’s performance in sports internationally. With Shaibu at the helm, the association looks forward to enhanced performance and progress in Nigerian sports.
