In a significant development for Nigerian football, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was installed as the President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B on Monday.

The election comes on the heels of the resignation of Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, who stepped down from his WAFU B role after being elected to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) two months ago.

Gusau’s installation as WAFU Zone B President is a testament to his leadership abilities and the strong support he enjoys among member countries.

According to the WAFU B headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Gusau is expected to bring continuity and dynamism to the zone.

His experience as NFF President since September 30, 2022, and his previous role as First Vice President of WAFU B, make him well-suited for this new position.

The installation of Gusau as WAFU Zone B President comes at a time of celebration for Nigerian football. Recently, the Nigeria U20 boys, known as the Flying Eagles, won the bronze medals at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals in Egypt, securing a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup finals. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Nigerian footballers and coaches.

With Gusau at the helm of WAFU Zone B, Nigerian football is poised to benefit from his leadership and vision. As President of WAFU Zone B, Gusau will also play a key role in shaping the future of football in West Africa, and his experience and expertise are expected to drive progress and growth in the region.
