The visitor to the institution, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, 8th May, 2025 officially commissioned and opened the legacy building of Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy.
In his presidential address, President Tinubu stated that his administration is fully committed to the development of the education sector which should be a joint task involving the government, corporate organizations and individuals. The number one citizen of the nation averred that the legacy building project is a demonstration of what partnership can achieve.
President Tinubu also said that the bane of public institutions with regards to infrastructure is poor maintenance culture even as he charged the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University to ensure that the building and its facilities are properly maintained.
In his address, UNIZIK Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu stated that the event marks a distinction that stands apart from the others providing a platform for the passing on Chief Emeka Anyaoku’s fecund ideas in international diplomacy as an academic discipline.
Prof. Ikechebelu stated that the institution remains grateful to Mr. President for the institution of NELFund, the release of fifty billion naira for the payment of Earned Academic Allowances and release of CNG buses to Nigerian students.
The Acting VC while also eulogizing the President for his intervention which saved the University from a drift to anarchy and restoration of normalcy and rule of law averred that Nigerians are hopeful and trusting that under his visionary leadership, the socioeconomic development of the country would take a quantum leap forward through his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Highpoints of the occasion was the conmissioning and tour of the institute by Mr. President and his entourage made of up Governors of the South Eastern States, Ministers, Ambassadors, lawmakers and top administrators of his cabinet.
