The Basketball team captain in the male category of Akwa Ibom State Edet Udofia, has expressed satisfaction over the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF).

He further commended the initiators of the festival, saying that it has made many youths understand that doing sports is beneficial.

Udofia , said this in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State , shortly after his team beat Edo State to qualify for semi final.

The captain explained that in spite of little hitches in the areas of allowances and accommodation the festival is going on successfully and inspiring.

“I really commend Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) for sponsoring this sports festival. Honestly I must say that this is really impressive.

” I tell you many youths have reliazed that doing sports is beneficial to themselves, family and the country at large.

“This is the first edition, so far it has recorded success because events are going on smoothly and the coordination is worthy to commend” Udofia said.

Consequently, he appeal to NDDC to make it an annual event so that youths in the region will discover their talents and chose sports as a career.

He also called on the organisers to look into the grey areas, like age cheating, allowances and accommodation.
