The Management of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State have restated its commitment to shape the future of students to match with the international standard, just as a total of 411 students bagged degrees and prizes.
Speaking to the Guardian yesterday, after the 13th convocation ceremony held at the Convocation Arena for the award of degrees, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eugene Okoye Nwadialor, maintained that its mission is to improve the educational standard beyond Nigeria, make a global impact driven by excellence, service and integrity. He however lamented that lack of funds has greatly posed great challenges towards embarking on rehabilitation work and other important project, pointing out that the University remains steady fast in providing World class education and future leaders.
Nwadialor listed some of their challenges to include financial sustainability, infrastructural development (there is need for well equipped laboratories, library, staff offices, student hostel, ICT facility etc to meet up global standards.
“We do not receive government subvention, … this has greatly affected plans of embarking on projects, purchasing modern equipment and payment of staff salaries. Private Institutions often struggle with limited funds for research, staff development etc. We are soliciting for financial aid from well meaning Nigerians, Corporate Organizations and Alumni to assist Tansian University in the effort to invest in research and infrastructure grants for faculty development.
We appeal to philanthropists to come and partner our institution”, the VC noted insisting that such funding would help advance teaching/learning and other activities. He further noted that whatever assistance would go a long way to act as catalysts that would help transform the institution.
Giving the breakdown of grandaunts, Nwadialor disclosed the list as follows: 1st class – 3 students, 2nd class upper – 136 students, 2nd class lower – 237 students, 3rd class – 4 students, PGD – 3 students and MSC/MA – 28 students, giving a total of 411 grandaunts.
Prof. Nwadialor further disclosed that the institution recorded successive accreditation in the following programmes; Law, Education, Natural & Applied Sciences, Accounting, Business Administration, Micro Biology and Philosophy, adding that qualified applicants are welcomed to the university.
