....Calls Nigerians To Rally Round Super Eagles For World Cup Ticket

One of the recipients of Special Recognition award in the just concluded maiden Newstap/ SWAN Five Star Sports Award, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa has lauded the organizers on the award she received and assured of continued optimum Innovations that will further drive Super Eagles dream to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup .
The award was for her patriotic zeal towards the development of Nigerian football through passionate support.
Ogunfuwa who rose through the rank was once the National Secretary before she formed her group and she has won multiple awards at both home and abroad. Her unique costume depicting true Nigerian women has earned her global recognition with Mama Nigeria. She said she’s happy with what the Newstap and SWAN are doing in recognizing excellence and dedication of her brand to the growth of Nigerian football.
She used the occasion to extol the efforts of both the Chairman of National Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, the Director General, Bukola Olopade and the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau for their efforts to change the narratives of the country’s sporting sector. The graduate of University of Lagos also lauded the efforts of National Sports Commission, NSC and NFF at uniting all Supporters Clubs, with the inauguration of Interim Management Commitee, IMC headed by Vincent Okumagba to steer the affairs of Supporters clubs . She noted that the appointment of the duo by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is already breeding peace in Nigerian football.
“I am deeply excited with this award today and It’s a testament that Nigerians are watching and appreciating us for all we do. Big kudos to the organizers,Newstap and SWAN for putting up this for us. Supporting the national team is a thankless job and a huge risk to say the least in terms of logistics, funding and other necessary arrangements for members all in the name to support the national teams both home and abroad. In fact, I have seen the good, the bad and ugly side of Supporting national teams in the last 30 years. I was privileged to win several award in Ghana, Cameroon and Ivory Coast during AFCON and AWCON. The awards and accolades I received here in Nigeria are also overwhelming. Honestly, this kind of recognition can only spur me to do more for Nigeria.”
“I must also appreciate the spirited efforts of the National Sports Commission for the good job they’re doing to reposition the country’s sports sector, the Chairman and the Director General, Mallam Shehu Dikko and Honourable Bukola Olopade are two good heads that will drive nation’s sports to the new heights. Their support to the NFF President, Mallam Shehu Dikko will soon yield a huge profit for all to see by the special grace of God. Efforts are also ongoing towards having a united Supporters Club”
The CAF Award winning Matriarch added: “It’s equally important to state that this is the first time after so many years that the right people have been saddled with the responsibility of handling the country’s sports sector and we Fans Club are not left out in the scheme of things. This is unprecedented and we are ready to partner with the Commission to give Nigerians the best supports needed for all the national teams across boards. We are proud of them. I say thank you”
“This award is too dear to me because it’s coming from two reputable organisations who are also major stakeholders in Nigerian sports and it will only make me to do more, particularly, as all groups are working towards having a united brand. Let’s work together as a team and cheer the Super Eagles to victory. We can do it yes, we can grab World Cup ticket.” Mama Nigeria enthusiastically assured.
