In her quest to ensure that the students prepare well and achieve success during their examinations, the Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh Students’ Career Development Initiative (DIUSCADI) on Monday, 3rd March, 2025 distributed palliatives in form of food stuffs to her student volunteers.
The event which took place at the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (COCES) auditorium saw twenty-seven student volunteers of DIUSCADI given food palliatives by the association’s Convener and Global President of UNIZIK Alumni, Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh.
The palliatives were comprised of a painter of rice, noodles, beverages, tomatoes and seasonings.
In his address before the distribution of the palliatives, Dr. Umeh stated that the event was aimed at aiding the association’s student volunteers who have contributed in one way or the order towards the success of DIUSCADI by ensuring that they have a hitch free preparation and achieve success in the ongoing 2024/25 first semester examination.
Dr. Umeh, who is also the Head, Department of Information Technology UNIZIK, averred that DIUSCADI is about all round mentorship of the students of UNIZIK and other institutions in the state as well as an association that is saddled with the responsibility of giving back to the society through charity.
Dr. Umeh said: “Today, we are here to aid our student volunteers who have in one way or the order contributed towards the success of our programs both now and in the past. We want to ensure that they prepare well and be successful in the ongoing first semester examinations as we know that this is a difficult period were students may lack funds to even feed properly thereby affecting their preparation for examinations.
“DIUSCADI mentor students by ensuring that they have a seamless stay in the ivory tower and upon graduation become entrepreneurs and society builders. Our empowerment program is not just for students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka but for all the tertiary institutions in Anambra State,” Umeh stated.
On his part, the UNIZIK Alumni Global Treasurer, Comrade Jerome Okoro commended the students for aligning with a visionary leader in the mould of Dr. Umeh. He assured the association of his support in their subsequent programmes and events.
In their separate vote of thanks, Favour Beauty Obodozie, a 200 level student of the Department of Cyber Security thanked the Convener and appreciated him for his philanthropic gesture of supporting the students in ensuring that they have a hitch free and memorable moments during their examinations.
Re-echoing the views of Obodozie, Johnmichael Ikenna Amadi, a final year student of the Department of Computer Science, described Dr. Umeh as a mentor and father figure who has contributed to his progress both in academics and mentorship. He prayed for God’s continuous blessings on the DIUSCADI convener.
