..….As Zonal Eliminations For Team Sports Kick Off Today

By; Jacob Dickson

As the elimination for team sports of the National Sports Festival (NSF) billed for Abeokuta, the Ogun Stats capital later in the year began in Kaduna on Sunday February 23, 2025, the North West Zonal Coordinator of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Maikano Alhaji Adamu, is optimistic that teams that pick tickets from the zone will excell at the NSF.

He expressed this, when fielding questions from sports writers on the sidelines of the 2025 President Beach Soccer Championship in Kaduna at the weekend.

“Yes, in fact, with what I have seen, even, you know it, I was former Secretary General of Nigerian Volleyball Federation, then

beach event was not up to this standard.

“And what I have seen today shows that beach is growing, and most especially the North West.

I have seen potential athletes, beach players, and I believe when we are at the festival, we will be able to carry gold medal there,” he said.

The Zonal Coordinator in charge of North-West comprising Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Kano states said that preparations for the Zonal Eliminations are top notch and no hitches are expected.

“As I’m telling you, I’ve been listening to the commissioner of sports, the director of sports, all that’s needed in terms of facility is already on the ground.

“Accommodation is already on the ground. What we’re waiting now is for the arrival of the athletes, so that immediately they come in on Sunday, then the next day we’ll do the technical meeting.

“From the technical meeting, then the normal game start on Monday.

“Arrival is Sunday 23rd, then 24th technical meeting, 25th to 28th, game proper,” he said.
