In a major security breakthrough, Special Anti-Touting Squad of Anambra State (SASA) operatives, leading a combined security team AVG, have successfully apprehended the kidnappers and murderers of Hon Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North Constituency 1.
The operation culminated late last night with the arrest of the suspects, who later led the security team to the location where they had dumped Hon Azuka’s decomposing body near the 2nd Niger Bridge.
Hon Justice Azuka was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha.
His tragic death has plunged Anambra State into mourning and highlighted the urgent need to address the region’s security challenges.
Speaking on the successful operation, Sasa spokesperson Ambassador Karen James expressed satisfaction with the team’s efforts. “Nothing in this world is hidden under the sun. Kudos to our men for their job well done,” she said.
The swift apprehension of the culprits has earned widespread praises from Anambra residents, who lauded SASA’s efficiency and dedication to ensuring justice is served.
According to one of the residents who pledged anonymity disclosed that “This is a huge relief. The loss of Hon Justice Azuka is a devastating blow, but we commend Sasa and the combined team for their bravery and commitment”.
The tragic incident underscores the need for heightened security measures in the state, particularly for public officials. As Anambra mourns the loss of yet another distinguished lawmaker, there is renewed hope that justice will prevail.
