Enyimba FC handler, Coach Yemi Olanrewaju has said that Enyimba will not take Ikorodu City FC of Lagos for granted when both sides lock horns on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the Sunday game, Coach Yema said although he is a Lagosian but that he works and earns his living in Aba, Abia State and so his allegiance is now with the Aba side.
He said they already have some tips about the team and that he knows some of their players insisting that though they will come to give Enyimba a good fight but that they will not take them for granted as they are focused for the maximum points especially with gap brewing at the top of the log.
“Yes am a Lagosian but Abia is were i work and earn my leaving, and so come Sunday, I will be an Abian.
“I think I know a little bit about them and I have know some of their players, we know they will come here to give us a good fight.
“It would be stupid of us to underrate them, we will take the game so serious and go for the maximum points especially now the gap at top of the log is opening up.
“We are not going to take Ikorodu City for granted because, we would treat them like every other big team in the like like Remo Stars, Rivers United, Rangers and Others and go for the maximum three points at the end of the day
The “Oga Boys” as they are fondly called will be the People’s Elephant guest at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba in NPFL match day 9 encounter by 4pm.
The newly promoted Lagosians will for the first time be engaging the 9 time league champions in the league and in any type of competition.
The new NPFL side will be basking in the euphoria of their last two games were they got a 1-1 draw against another Oriental side, Heartland FC in Owerri before humbling Lobi Stars 4-2 in Lagos.
The Aba ‘Giants’ will hope to be boosted with return of some players who were notably absent during the long trip to Maiduguri including Daniel Daga, Imo Obot and Fataib Abdullahi among others.
Effervescent winger, Clinton Jephta will however continue to be absent as he is still with the National U-20 side in Togo after helping them to qualify for the CAF WAFU B Semi final stage against Togo on Sunday.
