Anambra State Commissioner for Housing Hon. Pauly Onyeka has encouraged youths of the State to take charge of their destinies by being effective , determined and spiritual if they must attain greater heights in the Society .
The commissioner gave the advise while giving a talk at Catholic Girls Secondary School Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA of the State .
Hon Pauly recalled that during his secondary school days, he was very effective, with good morals and spiritual backings which helped him reach the hight he is in life today .
In his words “I am not a proud person but l like giving examples with my self so as to make it real .if there is anything that contributed to my doing well in terms of academics, it is discipline. The person that is talking with you today did science and arts made A in all the subjects “.
He however warned the students to avoid engaging in bandwagon system of life , but should be lndependent minded . He further added that at this level of their lives, they should have master plan to prioritize what they want to achieve in life .
“In terms of efforts , you must make your master plan because it is by the time you do your master plan that you will be focused . We are not talking of the present .We are talking of the totality of our lives .You should be able to think ahead of others; do things that other will begin to wonder ” he advised.
He maintained that prayers without good work are ineffective and disturbance to God .He further added that dressing speaks much about a person as “people address you the way you dress .Above all , we must be respectful to our superiors and be upright in learning and characters which are criteria for issuance of certificates and degrees .
The Commissioner equally enjoined them to always remember their alma- mater whenever they are successful in life .
He later appreciated the teachers through cash donations and promised to support the upcoming inter house sports , especially the House bearing his name with price tags for medals won in the competition.
Conducting him around the school to observe erosion threats on the compound , the manger of the school , Rev Father Evaristus Muoghalu appreciated the commissioner for honoring the invitation ,adding that his speech has impacted positivity on the students and every one around .
The event featured presentation of gift to commissioner and group photograph with the commissioner and Principal Mrs Uche Okeke and including all the management staff in the school .
