Enyimba FC Gaffer, Coach Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju insists his players know the importance of their rescheduled Match Day 3 NPFL encounter against Akwa United on Wednesday.
Speaking to Enyimba media earlier on Tuesday ahead of the team 4th league game of the season, Coach Yema said after the loss against Rivers United over the weekend, they know what is expected of them.
The People’s Elephant will be in action on Wednesday against the Promise Keepers in one of the rearranged league game following their engagement in the continent and the 9 times champions must earn maximum points to stay among the early leaders on the log.
“Yeah, we know the importance of the game tomorrow (Wednesday), we know what’s at stake. And after losing 2-0 in Port Harcourt, we have to make our fans happy. You know, they have been there for us, they have been supporting us.
“We have to do this for the club for everyone of us and we know it’s importance”.
“So we will go all out for the game against Akwa United and hope for the maximum points.
“We also know it’s going to be a tough game because they are wounded already.
“Having lost at home against Sunshine, they will come here with more determination to get something but we understand what is at stake for us”.
Both sides cancelled themselves out last season in their respective homes with Enyimba winning the first leg in Aba 3-2 and lest the return leg at Uyo 3-1.
In their last six meetings, both sides have won 2 games each while 2 ended in a draw.
Enyimba is 6th on the log with 6 points out of 3 games while their Wednesday opponents are 14th on the log with just 2 points in 3 games as well.
The People’s Elephant will entertain the Promise Keepers of Uyo on Wednesday October 2nd 2024 at the Enyimba Int’l Stadium, Aba in the rescheduled 2024/25 NPFL match day 3 encounter by 4pm.
