Okolie, Onwuemene Get Congregation Nod As Representatives To UNIZIK 10th Governing Council

The 10th Governing Council Elections of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, on Thursday, 19th September 2024 saw Engr. Dr. Paul Okolie from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engr. Ikechukwu Onwuemene, Director of Works Services, both elected as Congregation representatives. Dr. Okolie will represent the teaching staff, while Engr. Onwuemene will represent non-teaching staff.

The election which was conducted on Thursday across the University’s faculties and campuses, saw Dr. Okolie polling a total of 761 votes, while Engr. Onwuemene obtained 672 votes. The winners were announced by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, alongside the Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Agbonome, and the Ag. Registrar, Rev. Sam Ufoh at the University Auditorium, which served as the collation centre.

For the Comprehensive Election Results:

Teaching Staff:

1. Dr. Paul Okolie – 761 votes

2. Dr. Obinna Anachuna – 523 votes

3. Dr. Stephen Ufearoh – 522 votes

4. Dr. Stanley Mgbemena – 169 votes

5. Mr. Roy Uchefuna – 99 votes

6. Dr. Nnaemeka Abamara – 65 votes

7. Prof. Charles Ezeagba – 64 votes

8. Dr. Vincent Okafor – 61 votes

9. Dr. Kingsley Agu – 60 votes

 

Non-Teaching Staff:

1. Engr. Ikechukwu Onwuemene – 672 votes

2. Barr. Philomena Okoye – 573 votes

3. Mrs. Ogochukwu Nduka – 526 votes

4. Dr. Njideka Nwangwu – 428 votes

5. Mrs. Angela Nnajiofor – 120 votes
