Planned building projects at the proposed Games Village where athletes will be Housed for the Maiden Inter-Secondary Athletics Championship is almost completed and awaiting commissioning.
Recall that the Inter-Secondary Mega Championships put together by the Sponsor Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe will kick-off on October, 18th to 24th inside the mainbowl of Pantami Stadium Gombe.
The Chairman AthIetics Association of Gombe State Hon. Gara-Gombe made this known after chairing a meeting of MOC members and Sub-Committees recently.
The Chief Executive Officer of a sports firm, Green White Green (GWG) Sports Center Ltd, expressed satisfaction on the progress of work done at the Games Village.
He ostensibly beliefs that AthIetes will find the their accommodation at the Games Village very comfortable for relaxation towards better performance when the Championships finally begins in October 18th.
Hon. Gombe who got briefted by various committees formally applauded them for a job well done, urging them to expedite action on the remaining jobs for quick completion, according to him, the project already had gulped millions of Naira and have to attain expected international standard.
“History is in the making, this is the first time in Gombe State an individual had taking up a project from the scratch for the benefit of young and talented AthIetes.
He reiterated during an interview the benefits that accrued to Gombe as a State when he also sponsored the first Primary Schools AthIetics Championships where AthIetics drawn from his AthIetics Academy represented Gombe State at the 7th National Youth Games 2023 in Asaba came from.
Apparently glad for the achievement, the Sports Entrepreneur insisted that government should encourage private corporate bodies to invest in the sports sector through recognition for their effort.
On the importance of the Inter-Secondary AthIetics Championships, former Gombe United football Club boss alluded that, young talented athletes would be discovered, Sports Awareness will grow while sports infrastructures would be developed, etc.
He informed that his passion for sports sponsorship and development is for AthIetes to use their talents to eke a living than beg on the Streets , “A desire I had nursed for a long time is being actualised”
