How Like-Minds FC, Gwagwalada Become Unity Preseason Tournament Champions

The Like-Minds FC of Gwagwalada Abuja at the weekend became the the champion of the Unity Preseason Tournament held in Abuja.

The NLO side against all odds piped an NPFL side, Niger Tornadoes of Minna by a lone goal. The goal came in the 76th minute of the match by Lucky Ojukwu. The first had ended goalless. The Ikoh Allah boys had lost a penalty kick on resumption of the second half.

The Tornadoes boys had defeated Conac FC by two goals nil, defeated 2K-19 by a lone goal, played goalless with EFCC, defeated Midland by a lone goal and eliminated Nasarawa United by four goals to one on penalties.

Like Minds FC on their part, played a two all draw with Atlantic in their first match, beat CKD by two goals to one, defeated Nasarawa United by three goals to one, and shoved aside Ejike Ugwoaja FC by a lone goal, before eliminating 2K-19 FC by three goals to two.

Speaking immediately after the final match, the Chairman of the Gwagwalada Abuja based team Barrister Babatunde Akintade (Bocknor) was full of praises for his boys for rising up to the occasion. He was full of appreciation to the organizers of the tournament for providing a veritable platform for the teams to prepare for new season.

The highlight of the final was the investiture of the Permanent Secretary Nasarawa State Sports Ministry, Barrister Isaac Danladi as the Patron of the Tournament. In his response after he was decorated, Barrister Isaac Danladi was full of appreciation to the organizers of the tournament for finding him worthy of the award and promised to do all within his powers to ensure that the tournament which is a flagship in the Northern conference.
