The Directorate of Research and Innovation, in collaboration with ASUU NAU, hosted a one-day workshop on securing national research funding (NRF) and research clusters innovation.
The event, held yesterday at the ASUU NAU Secretariat, featured prominent principal investigators.
In his welcome address, Prof. Azubuike Ekpunobi, Director of Research and Innovation, UNIZIK, emphasized the importance of exploring opportunities and challenges in securing national research funding. He highlighted the workshop’s focus on launching a new era of collaborative research excellence.
Prof. Ekpunobi explained that the research clusters are designed to foster innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing, and bring together experts from diverse fields to tackle complex problems and create new possibilities.
He noted that the workshop aims to equip participants with the skills and strategies necessary to succeed in national research fund competitions.
He revealed that expert leaders would share insights on understanding agency priorities, crafting compelling proposals, building effective collaborations and navigating the review process.
Prof. Ekpunobi urged participants to embrace the opportunity to enhance their research capacity, build meaningful partnerships and contribute to societal betterment.
The workshop’s highlights included discussions on concept notes, the inauguration of faculty representatives, university research cluster leads, departmental representatives and addressing software technical issues. Participants received certificates of participation upon completion.
