Awka Angels on Monday, 12th August 2024 saw off Dynamites Angels FC by a lone goal at the Awka City Stadium in one of the match day one fixture of the South East Women Football Association (SEWFA) Football Championship holding from August 11 to 24th, 2024.

Substitute Ifunanyachukwu Chukwai’s beautiful finish in the 56th minute assisted by Helen Christopher was enough to give the capital based points a deserved three minutes in the encounter with both sides missing plethora of chances in a keenly contested game in group B of the competition.

Earlier on, Imo Strikers Queens FC obliterated Zohar FC by 9 goals to nil to kick start their quest in the championship. Chidi Harmony and Miracle Ezaka both bagged a treble in the one sided encounter while Sunday Christopher, Mary Akpan and Precious Oscar all recorded their names on the score sheet.

In Tuesday’s fixtures, Greenfoot SA of Enugu will trade tackles with Little Bird FC of Awka by 10am, GP World FA will play Pepsi Academy by 12noon while Immaculate Queens FC of Enugu will clash with Solo Wonders FC of Abia in the last match of the day which kicks off by 3pm.

The SEWFA championship is being bankrolled by a prominent social media platform, TAWKWELL.
