In her ongoing commitment to enhancing the living conditions of students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi, conducted yet another unannounced inspection of the hostel facilities at the College of Health Sciences, Okofia, Nnewi, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agulu.
During her visit to the College of Health Sciences, Professor Arinze-Umobi expressed deep concern over the non-functionality of the campus’s sole hostel, whose renovation works has been delayed for a while.
The Provost, Professor Gerald Unigwe, and Professor Samuel Meludu appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to expedite the renovation process to allow students to move into the hostel.
Saddened by the situation, the Acting Vice-Chancellor assured the college leadership of her commitment to accelerating the renovation efforts to ensure students can reside on campus. She also pledged to address other accommodation issues raised by the Provost. While touring the rest of the college, Professor Arinze-Umobi expressed her intention to improve campus accessibility by undertaking palliative measures on the access road presented by the College staff.
At the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Agulu, the Acting Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed her student-centered approach and her dedication to improving their living conditions. She encouraged the students, through their hostel president, to formally document their challenges and submit them to her by Monday for prompt attention.
