In the wake of Nigeria’s disappointing performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received an open letter from Segun Solanke, President and Founder of Provazios Sports Academy, outlining a comprehensive plan for future Olympic success.

Solanke’s letter, titled “Strategic Planning for Olympic Success: The Need for Immediate and Comprehensive Action,” emphasizes the need for a proactive, strategic, and inclusive approach to Nigeria’s Olympic preparations.

The letter highlights the country’s past failures, citing inadequate preparation, lack of infrastructure, insufficient funding, and poor athlete welfare as major contributing factors. Solanke stresses the importance of learning from these mistakes and adopting a new approach that prioritizes long-term planning, investment, and collaboration.

To achieve Olympic success, Solanke recommends the following steps:

1. *World-Class Infrastructure:* Invest in state-of-the-art training facilities across the country, ensuring equal opportunities for talent development.

2. *Athlete Development and Welfare:* Prioritize athlete development and welfare, providing access to top coaches, nutritionists, and sports psychologists, as well as a comprehensive welfare program.

3. *Continuous Monitoring and Feedback:* Establish a system for regular monitoring and evaluation of athletes’ progress, with quarterly reviews and necessary adjustments.

4. *International Exposure:* Support athletes’ participation in global tournaments to build experience and confidence.

5. *Public and Private Sector Collaboration:* Foster partnerships with private companies to sponsor athletes, invest in infrastructure, and support sports development programs.

Solanke’s letter concludes with a call to action, urging President Tinubu to take immediate leadership and convene a meeting with sports federations and top athletes to develop a clear roadmap for future success.

As Nigeria looks to the future, Solanke’s plan offers a beacon of hope for a nation eager to showcase its sporting talent on the world stage. Will President Tinubu heed the call and set Nigeria on the path to Olympic glory? Only time will tell.
