Nigeria Super Falcons again lost to Brazil in their first Olympic game at the Paris Olympics bringing back the bad memories of 16 years ago.
They lost to a team 0-1 lin a hard-fought contest at the Bordeaux Stadium in France to the same team that beat them 3-1 in Beijing.
Starting with aggression, and almost going ahead in the 16th minute through Blessing Demehin, the Super Falcons relaxed and the Brazilians took control.
First they got a goal through the veteran Marta in the 36th minute. But the goal was chalked off for offside. But a minute later, Gabi Nunes operating from the right fired a shot from a narrow angle into the Nigerian net. It proved decisive.
The Super Falcons will have their second game against world Champions Spain who defeated Japan 2-1 in Group C opener.
