The Anambra State commissioner for health, Dr Adam Obidike has said it is wrong to take breakfast very early in the morning.

He said this during health talk after the routine Saturday physical fitness workout with the governor’s wife Dr Nonye Soludo’s #healthylivingwithNonyeSoludo at Awka city stadium.

According to him, it is inappropriate for one to have breakfast early in the morning because certain hormones in the body inject enough glucose into the system to carry it till mid-day.

“There are two hormones; glucagon and cortisol that convert stored glucose in the liver and push it into the system when you wake up. You thereby have more than enough glucose to carry you through to mid-day before you could think of food”, he noted.

He went further to explain that early morning breakfast will pump insulin into the body which will shoot up your blood sugar level and over time will develop into health challenges.

” If you see people who grab breakfast very early in the morning, they tend to be fat because they have excess glucose to utilize and the body store them as fat. Delayed breakfast is beneficial for weight loss,” he expatiated.

However, Obidike implored that those on medications should eat according to doctors prescription and admonished that individuals could device eating plans that them.

“Once in a while, one can decide to eat once a day for a week or more, or decide to be skipping breakfast or any other meals, it all depends on the individual’s capacity,” he reiterated.
