The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK),  Chapter on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024 honoured the University Bursar, Mr. Gozie Egwuatu with an award of Leadership Excellence.

The award was bestowed on the University Bursar when the Executive Committee (EXCO) members of the Union led by their leader and Chairperson, Comrade Chigozie Ikegulu paid the institution’s Chief Financial Officer a courtesy visit.

In his remarks, Comrade Ikegulu stated that the award was to honour Mr. Egwuatu for his good works, dedication and selfless service to the University right from the time he assumed duty as one of the principal officers of the institution to this moment.

Mr. Ikegulu described Egwuatu as a leader with humility and listening ears who has ensured that the members of his Union are all smiles because of his cooperation.

The Union leader advised the University Bursar to keep up with his good works as the Union will continue to pray for him and give him all the necessary support towards ensuring that he continues in his strides of delivering quality and excellent leadership in the discharge of his duties.

Responding, the University Bursar, Mr. Egwuatu eulogized the Union for the visit while also appreciating them for the honour bestowed on him with the award.

Mr Egwuatu averred that the success story recorded thus far can not be attributed to him alone as there are people around him that have made his work easier and seamless including members of the NASU UNIZIK Chapter.

The Chief Financial Officer of the University informed that it takes two veins in the body to smile and 13 veins to frown which is one of the attributes that keeps him going in the job.

He stated that just like the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Esimone would say, he is a member of all the unions, promising that he will continue to carry out the discharge of his duties with humility and fear of God.

Also present during the presentation was the University Librarian, Prof. Stella Ngozi Anasi.
