The former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi was among the top dignitaries that graced the burial of late legendary actor, Amechi Muonagor
Speaking at the event held at the actor’s Country home, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, Obi urged the family to take heart and prayed for the repose of his soul.
He lamented the demise of the ace actor, saying that he would be missed on the screen.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Mr Don Onyenji described Nollywood as an industry for those who are creative, even as he called on the industry to work hard to promote the ideals of the society in the film industry.
He said, “This is an industry for people who are creative. We as government are here to also mourn the Nollywood legend who has played his role and brought up scores in the industry,” he stated.
The National President of AGN, Chief Emeka Rollas Ejezie, who was represented by a veran actor, Chief Steve Eboh, urged the bereaved family to take heart adding that God in His infinite mercy will give them the heart with which to bear the loss.
In her speech, the state chairman of AGN, Mrs Anyaegbunam Chinyere Esther said, “We lost somebody who was very precious to us, somebody people look up to as a father in the industry. He mentored so many of us.
“We urge the bereaved family of the deceased to take heart and God in His infinite mercy will grant them the heart with which to bear the irreparable loss,” she prayed.
Others people present at the burial include, the National vice president Southeast, Anigbo Clement, popularly known as, AB Cowboy, Uwaezeoke, Bobmanuel Udokwu who is from a neighbouring town of Ogidi and currently serving in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government as Special Assistant, among others.
