The maiden edition of the Nwankwo Kanu U-19 Football Competition ably powered by ex- international and Sporting Director of Enyimba FC, Ifeanyi Ekwueme to unearth burden talents hits quarter final stage.

According to a snip from the Local Organizing Committee LOC, the actions in the Aba center which was halted due to insecurity resumed this week and ends Friday June 21, 2024 with teams emerging for the knockout stage.

In group A, favourites Ngwa United and Dona Stars picked the two available tickets just as El Harry Academy FC and Okwu United grabbed the tickets in group B while Forster Academy FC and Apex Cranes FC are the qualifiers from group C.

Today, two more teams are expected to emerge to complete the teams for the quarter final stage.

Meanwhile, the shape of the quarter final games indicates that Ngwa United FC will lock horns with Okwu United while El Harry Academy FC takes on Dona Stars FC in the second quarter final game.

Speaking to infonews.com.ng correspondent on the grassroots soccer tournament which many has described as the Panacea for football development, the Coordinator of Aba center, Mr Sunny-Black Ogbeka said the other two quarter final games will be made known after the last round of group game today, Friday.

While commending King Kanu and Ekwueme for their innovative moves at recreating young talents who will in the near future become supers stars, Sunny-Black further revealed that the competition has indeed been explosive as lots of talented players have been discovered.

As at the time of filling this report, feelers were still being expected from the Owerri center were the tournament is expected to have also entered the knockout stage.
