The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, FAMedS, has assured the Student Union Government of prompt release of students’ results after examination and quick restoration of power on campus.

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor made the remarks on Thursday, 6th June 2024 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room while receiving the Student Union executives led by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Chinonso Achebe, who paid him a courtesy visit on assumption of office as Acting Vice-Chancellor.

In his speech during the visit, the President of the SUG, Mr. Izuchukwu Ejikeme congratulated Prof. Ikechebelu for emerging as Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the institution at this time; expressing unwavering confidence that the Ag. VC would deliver more than expected in the best interest of the University looking back at his track record and evidential accomplishments both as a scholar and entrepreneur.

The student leader pledged the unflinching support of the student body to Prof. Ikechebelu’s administration while the SUG EXCO made a presentation of the Holy Bible and a plaque of honour to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor.

Responding, the Ag. VC, Prof. Ikechebelu reiterated the focus of his administration which according to him hinges on the HPS squared philosophy – Happy Productive Staff and Happy Progressive Students. The scholar assured the students that examination results would be released within one month of the examination, henceforth. The Ag. VC informed the students that with the launching of the AI enabled University portal, undue long delays of students’ results would become a thing of the past.

The Ag. VC charged the SUG leadership to ensure a smooth transition from the current executive to the next one. Prof. Ikechebelu enjoined all students of the institution to remain focused and innovative in thinking, be of good behaviour and continue to make a difference as worthy ambassadors of the alma mater-UNIZIK wherever they find themselves in the future.

In a vote of thanks, the Sub-Dean of the Student Affairs, Dr. Chinedu Mbalisi eulogized the qualities of the Ag. Vice-Chancellor stating that Prof. Ikechebelu embodies such pragmatic qualities that would accelerate the development strides already started at the institution.

Present during the visit were the University’s Acting Registrar, Pastor Samuel Ufoh; the University Bursar, Mr. Gozie Egwuatu; the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Lasbery Asomugha and the Deputy Registrar II (Records), Mr. Emmanuel Nnaemeka
