Lagos Social Mobilisation Section Mother’s Association Host Mothers, School Children

Local government education authority, Lagos Mainland Social Mobilisation Section Mother’s Association recently hosted Women and school Children in celebration of the their Day in Lagos.

The occasion themed “Barriers Preventing Children Especially, Girls from enjoying Rights to free Quality Education”

The secretary of local government education authority Lagos Mainland Hon.Barr. Tijani Tajudeen in his opening address, expressed thanks for the opportunity to celebrate Mothers.
He noted that all over the World, a day is set aside to celebrate Mothers. In most things, women come first, if you see any child that’s supposed to be in school that’s not in school, please inform us as provisions has been made by Lagos State Government for every Child to be in School and more

In his speech Mr. Abhijit Dhar who donated writing Materials to school Children, instructed them to the take their studies seriously, adding that though they may be young today, but will soon get to adult stage. “The only way survive in life is to be serious with your studies and remain focussed, work hard, pay attention to every little details”.

On her part , Alice Amolo, “Caring Heart Organisation”, spoke on the barriers that prevents girl Child to quality education.
Speaking on the hindrances Mrs Amolo said Poverty, Negative social and cultural norms, early Marriages, sexual violence and Abuse, etc.are the main courses.
While profering solutions, She said, child marriages should be abolished, provision of scholarship should be made for the girl child, attitude change, the disabled and indegent children must have access to education.
Mrs Onyekachi Abimbola Rebecca (USA) of “Woman Thou Art Favoured Organisation”
represented by Mrs. Toyosi Peters spoke on building a Godly home and waking up to our responsibilities, insisting that, “No matter how skillful one is, except God builds a house, you would labour in vain with some bible quotations.
While explaining how we can build, She said “Build on God, meaning total dependence on God, build through wisdom, through the word of God, prayers, our lives, love, teaching, empathy etc.”
She insisted that Motherhood is a Calling and that Mothers should make their children their friends. She donated 45 pieces of wrappers and other things to mothers.
Other dignitries that graced the occasion include Mrs Oreoluwa Oduyoye of Oreoluwa Oduyoye Foundation. Mrs Manda Olowu, Mrs Abhijit Dhar, Chief Mrs Ogunnoiki Folake Simiat (Alhaja Gold) Corodinator Mother’s Association.
