As Anambra State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye prepares to bow out of service next month, journalists in the state, Thursday, held a special interactive session, titled ‘Finishing Strong’ in his honour to appreciate his efforts in sanitizing the state of crime.
The session offered the commissioner an opportunity to tell his success stories and respond to questions raised by journalists on the security situation of the state.
Anambra State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, while speaking at the event, lauded the commissioner’s efforts and initiatives towards addressing the security situation of the state since he assumed office, last year.
According to the NUJ Chairman, CP Adeoye has succeeded in bringing peace to a large extent in Anambra and is moving towards finishing strong in his policing career.
In his remarks, CP Adeoye, ably represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID, Mr Akin Fakorede
expressed happiness over the role journalists in Anambra State are playing as critical partners in their job of sanitizing the state of crimes and criminalities.
According to him, his leadership in the state’s police command brought about improved human relations and welfare of officers which restored their confidence in the force.
He maintained that the command is nipping crime in the bud and mapping out strategies to end killings and kidnapping in various areas of the state, particularly Awka and environs, pointing out that Anambra State is relatively calm considering what was happening before he came.
Contributing, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed that measures put in place to encourage preventive policing have yielded positive results.
According to him, CP Adeoye’s good works made the state government to approve naming a street after him which has never happened before.
