All is now set for the 25th anniversary competition and celebration of the annual East of the Niger Inter Club (ENIC) Tennis League.
The annual ENIC Tennis League which is bankrolled by CUTIX PLC will hold from Friday, 9th February to Saturday, 10th February 2024 at the Nnewi Sports Club, Nnewi, Anambra State. The anticipated two-day league will feature the semi-finals and grand finale featuring four tennis clubs comprising of Nnewi Sports Club, Onitsha Country Club, Standard Tennis Development Club Owerri (STDC) and Enugu Sports Club.
Onitsha Country Club will square up against Nnewi Sports Club in the first semi-finals on Friday while Standard Tennis Development Club (STDC) Owerri will lock horns with Enugu Sports Club with the winners of the respective matches featuring in the finals of the tournament.
The Winner of the competition will smile home with the sum of N1million and a giant trophy with the runners-up going home with N700,000 while the other semi-finalists will each settle home with the sum of N500,000 each.
According to Chief Kingsley Uduh, Chairman of Anambra State Tennis Association and former Chairman of the ENIC Tennis League, the competition is a platform for tennis clubs in the South East and South South Geopolitical zones to play at a competitive level, unveil their new tennis stars as well as promote the growth and development of Tennis in Nigeria.
Chief Uduh who was the Chairman of the ENIC Tennis League tournament and invented the Super 4 League revealed that the tennis league has been hosted by Nnewi Sports Club, Enugu, Calabar, Owerri and Aba, the sports administrator further disclosed that the 25th anniversary is unique which goes to show the level of consistency and dynamics of the game.
Uduh eulogized CUTIX PLC for their immense support in bankrolling the competition while calling on other corporate organizations, well-meaning Nigerians and sports lovers to be part of the competition and ensure that Tennis as a sports is accentuated and taken to the next level from the grassroots, the state and nation at large.
