SEUGA 2024: UNIZIK Table Tennis Teams Win Two Gold Medals To Keep Hope Alive

As the 20th anniversary edition of the South East University Games holding in Nnamdi Azikiwe University go into day three, UNIZIK athletes have shone bright in some indoor games.

Team UNIZIK have won two Gold medals in Table Tennis.
The quartet of Chimuanya Uwah, Izuchukwu Okoli, Somtochukwu Onwuegbusi and Bello Yusuf put the university ahead winning Gold in Male Table Tennis Team event.

The female trio of Judith Nwosu, Chiama Nworah and Ifunanyachukwu Uzoigwe claimed the second Gold in the same event for team sports.

The UNIZIK male and female chess team also defeated their Abia- state university and Federal University of Technology Owerri counterparts respectively in the round one of Chess event.

The 20th anniversary edition of the South East University Games kicked off in Nnamdi Azikiwe University on Thursday 25th January, 2024
The opening ceremony event which took place at the Stadium of Nnamdi Azikiwe University saw in attendance over seventeen universities in the South East zone.

Other dignitaries in attendance are who is who is sports in Nigerian universities including the president of NUGA Prof Mohammed Bawa and the president of SEUGA Dr Felix Obiugwu among others.

Sporting activities continue across the university today in various sporting centers. Soccer male is holding at the University Main Stadium (Beautiful gate) while Coke center field play host to Soccer female event.

Other ball events, Volleyball, Basketball etc have Bakassi sport complex as venue.

Indoor games of Scrabble, Chess and Table Tennis have the New faculty of education building as venue
