Nze Mike, Awka.

Anambra state government has
restated its commitment to fighting criminals with the aim of restoring sanity and peaceful environment in the state.

Government also reminded that it does not support idolatry in the state, and cautioned citizens to remain patient when worshiping God.

Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the Sunday service at the Our Saviours Anglican church Awka, yesterday, the state Deputy governor, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, who took the positions, maintained that governor Chukwuma Soludo has been steadfast in his fight against all forms of criminality, including those living in the bush and shrines with human and sacrifices.

“The challenge is getting these youths out and being gainfully employed and keeping their eyes on christianity. We’re not necessarily interested in which Church they worship because we profess ecumenism.

“Some youths even say education is a scam, yet the same people apply for teaching and other jobs because the job is meant for the educated and graduates”, Ibezim said.

Speaking on the on-going demolition exercise, he argued that the people affected have been warned over and over again, but that they felt unconcerned.

He expressed the worry that the areas they choose to trade is worrisome, close to the gutters, shanties, when we have markets, adding, “Why not go to the appropriate authorities for proper allocation which is public?

“When some of us travel abroad, we’re excited about the beauty of the cities. We pay to visit those cities.

“Let people stop playing politics with development. There’s no government that will have more human face than the present government of Anambra State.

“The same government that started with employment of 5000 youths and another 3000 ongoing; training and equipping youths in different fields, talk about healthcare, distribution of palliatives, yet you say the same government has no human face”.

Dr Ibezim further urged Anambra people to remain steadfast when worshiping God, reminding that God is everywhere and ready to answer prayers.

“People are impatient with God, especially the youth, …they must learn to be patient because the God we’re serving is a patient God

“Christians should stop moving to different churches to worship, .. once you keep running from one church to another, you stand the risk of losing total faith in Christ”, he noted.
