Having put behind the match day 17 game against Katsina United, Enyimba FC Assistant Gaffer, Coach Olarenwaju Yemi has reiterated the clubs ambition to end the first stanza of the league among the top on the log.
Speaking ahead of the NPFL match day 18 encounter against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Coach Yemi who regretted the outcome of the rescheduled game between the Aba giants and Katsina United said if his boys can reproduce the performance they put up in Jos and Katsina, that he is optimistic of getting a positive result in Ibadan.
According to the coach, Enyimba was denied a point in Katsina. He alleged that one of the AR gave a controversial decision to award a goal to the home side even as the ball did not cross the line.
“Things have not gone our way, especially the game against Katsina United. It wasn’t in our hand to win and there is nothing we could have done but we deserved to get something”,
“We can now focus on the game against Shooting Stars, hopefully if we play the way we played against Plateau and Katsina, if we repeat the performance we should be able to get something out of it”,
“I know in Ibadan there they are the favourites, they are playing at home and they won their last home game against Bayelsa and drew against Sporting in Lagos but we are Enyimba, we will give our best and we are motivated to win,” Coach Yemi stated.
“Its not going to be an easy game but the boys are eager to win and we have come a long way not to get something from Jos to Ibadan, here in Enyimba we want to win always”,
In the last five meetings between Shooting Stars and Enyimba both sides have had two wins apiece and one draw which is an indicator that toe is evenly balanced as the league champions hope to end their trip on the road since the last 7 days on a good note.
