The one-day International Football Scouting program organized by Top Level Sports Management in collaboration with Ambassador Ugochukwu Morah is a platform to unearth talented footballers domiciled in Awka and the state at large with a view to producing the next generation of world class players.
These were the assertions of Amb. Ugochukwu Morah while speaking to the global audience on International TV in the aftermath of the one-day International Football Scouting program held on Sunday, 7th January 2024 at the Awka City Stadium.
Amb. Morah, a lawyer and financial expert stated that the one-day football scouting program is about passion and agenda of the Igbo ambassadors based in the United Kingdom to bring prosperity in every sector in the South East Geopolitical zone of which sports plays a huge role even as the socio-cultural body work towards the unveiling of her South East Economic blueprint later in the year.
“Am delighted that the one-day football scouting program was a huge success as it was an opportunity to expose and unearth young talented footballers in Awka and beyond with a view to giving them the platform to play professional football at the international level.
“This is part of the agenda of the Igbo ambassadors based in the UK of which I am the President, to bring prosperity to the South East zone in all sectors of which football is not left out as it is a multi million dollar industry and a tool to end youth restiveness via engaging our youths by horning their skills through sports and building a professional career playing the round leather game,” Amb. Morah said.
Morah revealed that in achieving the goal and aspiration of the scouting program, he engaged the services of UK based FIFA Licensed Agent, Philip Mbah for the football scouting program which had over 200 footballers turn up in their numbers. The youthful sports afficionado affirmed that the International Football Scouting program will be an annual event which will be extented to all the South Eastern states as the zone is endowed with abundant talents.
Morah who also doubles as the Chairman, Diaspora Investment Committee informed that 10 players discovered from the scouting programme will be kept in a closed camp based in Aba for a period of three to four months to further harness their potentials, go through mentorship and prepare them for life abroad before being taken to football clubs in Europe to ink a deal. He thanked the players who turned up for the programme while calling on the state government to enhance the state of the Awka City Stadium and as well put in place infrastructures that will enable sports to thrive and grow in the state.
On his part, Philip Mbah, a UK based FIFA Licensed Agent eulogized Amb. Morah for the initiative of bringing the football scouting program down to his community and state as it is a program usually held in Lagos and Abuja.
Mbah pointed out that Anambra is blessed with potential great footballers who have what it takes to play at the highest level of the game. He highlighted traits such as discipline, dedication and commitment as key variables for young and upcoming footballers in achieving their dreams and goals of becoming world class super stars.
